Mustafizur Rahman is recovering well from his injury. Shoriful Islam shared the update before the second ODI against New Zealand.
Bangladesh are in a tough spot after losing the first match by 26 runs. Mehidy Hasan Miraz’s team now needs a win to stay alive in the series. The second ODI will take place tomorrow.
There was confusion before the first match. Mustafizur was in the XI at first. But he got injured during the warm up at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium. The team then made a late change.
Shoriful spoke about Mustafizur’s condition.
“He (Mustafiz) is, Alhamdulillah, doing fairly well now.”
Shoriful replaced him and did well. He bowled 10 overs. He gave away 27 runs. He took 2 wickets. He kept good control and bowled with discipline.
He also spoke about team selection.
“As professional cricketers, all 15 of us in the squad stay ready to play. The coach will decide now. We are all prepared. There is nothing in my hands. We will go with the team that is selected. Alhamdulillah, I bowled fairly well, but we lost the match, so it feels bad.”
It is still not clear if Mustafizur will play the next match. But there is some hope. He trained with the team in Mirpur. He joined both bowling and fielding sessions. The final call on his place is yet to come.
