Shoriful Islam has opened up about his last minute selection for the first ODI against New Zealand.

The left arm pacer said he only knew he would play just before the toss.

“I got to know one or two seconds before the toss that I will play. Then I was telling Rishad in the dressing room that I will play. Rishad said this is your Rizq.”

Bangladesh made a late change to the side. Mustafizur Rahman was set to play but missed out. Shoriful came in at the last moment and made an impact.

He bowled 10 overs and gave away just 27 runs. He also bowled 2 maiden overs and took 2 wickets. He kept his line and length tight. He bowled with accuracy and discipline. He did not allow the batters to score freely.

His spell helped Bangladesh stay in control for long periods of the match. It turned into a key performance for the team.

Shoriful also said the words from Rishad Hossain made the moment special. His effort now puts him in focus for the next matches in the series.
