Information Minister Zahir Uddin Swapan has expressed deep sorrow over the death of Ekushey Padak-winning artist and cultural icon Mustafa Monwar.
In a condolence message issued on Monday, the minister described Monwar’s passing as an irreparable loss to Bangladesh’s art, culture and creative community.
He said that throughout his long and distinguished career, Monwar made outstanding contributions to painting, children’s television programming, cultural development and nurturing creativity among younger generations.
“The nation will remember Mustafa Monwar’s artistic works, ideals and cultural vision with profound respect. His creations will continue to inspire future generations,” the minister said.
Swapan also prayed for the eternal peace of the departed soul and conveyed his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family.
Mustafa Monwar passed away on Monday morning while undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Dhaka. He had long been suffering from multiple health complications.
His death has cast a pall of grief over Bangladesh’s artistic, cultural and media communities.
