The government has directed that special prayers and munajat be offered after Jummah prayers in all mosques across the country on Friday, seeking the eternal peace of Sharif Osman Hadi.

In a press release issued on Thursday night, the Islamic Foundation appealed to all imams and khatibs to conduct these special prayers and munajat following Jummah prayers.

The announcement follows the passing of Hadi, a courageous frontline figure of the July mass uprising and the spokesperson for the Inqilab Mancha.

He died on Thursday while receiving medical treatment at Singapore General Hospital, following a six-day struggle for his life.

A potential candidate for the Dhaka-8 constituency, Hadi was shot on 12 December while travelling in a battery-operated auto-rickshaw at Box Culvert Road, Bijoynagar in Paltan.
