Bangladesh all-rounder Mosaddek Hossain Saikat has been nominated for the ICC Men’s Player of the Month award for June, earning the recognition for the first time in his career.
The International Cricket Council (ICC) announced the shortlist on Monday, with Mosaddek joined by India ODI captain Shubman Gill and New Zealand fast bowler Nathan Smith.
Mosaddek secured the nomination after playing a starring role in Bangladesh’s historic 2-1 ODI series victory over Australia. Making his first international appearance since November 2022, the all-rounder was named Player of the Series.
He marked his return with an unbeaten 86, two wickets and a stunning running catch in the opening ODI, helping Bangladesh register only their second ODI win over Australia and their first in more than two decades.
The 30-year-old finished the three-match series as Bangladesh’s highest run-scorer with 157 runs, including two half-centuries, cementing his place among the standout performers of June.
India captain Shubman Gill earned a nomination after an outstanding month across formats. He scored a century in the one-off Test against Afghanistan before piling up 238 runs in two ODI innings, including a blistering 154 off 110 balls against England.
New Zealand pacer Nathan Smith also made the shortlist after leading his side to a memorable 2-1 Test series win over England. Smith finished as the series’ highest wicket-taker with 16 wickets and was named Player of the Series.
