Midland Bank PLC has signed a strategic partnership with digital bookkeeping platform TallyKhata to enhance access to financial services for small businesses across Bangladesh.

The partnership, formalised through a memorandum of understanding at Midland Bank’s head office, will allow TallyKhata to use the bank’s API and infrastructure to offer services such as digital account opening, transactions, savings, and credit through its digital wallet, TallyPay, a press release says.

Officials said the collaboration is designed to support micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) by simplifying onboarding and providing access to formal financial services, particularly in underserved areas.

The agreement was signed by Midland Bank’s Head of Institutional Banking Division Mohd Javed Tarek Khan and TallyKhata CEO Dr Shahadat Khan. Senior officials from both organisations were present.

TallyKhata CEO Dr Shahadat Khan said the partnership would strengthen efforts to bring MSMEs into the formal financial system and promote wider inclusion. Midland Bank Deputy Managing Director Md Zahid Hossain said the initiative aims to expand the reach of digital financial solutions and foster inclusive economic growth.

Planned services under the partnership include account-to-account transfers, merchant account tagging, network integration for payments, card products, agent banking, and digital lending and savings products tailored for small traders.
