Madhupur received a fresh round of education and safe water infrastructure on Saturday as Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology, and Science and Technology Minister Faqir Mahbub Anam inaugurated and launched several government-backed development projects in the Tangail upazila.
The minister laid the foundation stone of a 100,000-litre water reservoir at Kakraid High School under a Department of Public Health Engineering project designed to provide a continuous supply of arsenic-free drinking water to local residents.
He also inaugurated newly constructed four-storey academic buildings at Jatabari Fazil (Degree) Madrasah, Ganggair Nazmul Islam Fazil Madrasah, Madhupur Adarsha Islamia Kamil Madrasah and Shalikha Fazil Madrasah.
Addressing the programmes, Faqir Mahbub Anam said the government is working to improve education quality by investing in modern academic infrastructure while expanding access to essential public services.
He said the government is conducting transparent and malpractice-free public examinations to uphold academic standards and ensure students are assessed on merit.
The minister said ensuring access to safe drinking water remains one of the government’s highest priorities alongside creating a modern learning environment.
He added that the government is implementing a series of projects to strengthen education, healthcare, communications and public service infrastructure in Madhupur as part of its broader development agenda, with the initiatives expected to improve the quality of life for local residents.
Before the official programmes, the minister visited the grave of former Madhupur Jubo Dal leader Sohail Talukdar, offered prayers and met members of his family.
Local public representatives, senior government officials, teachers, students, distinguished citizens and other invited guests attended the programmes.
