Litton Das has been ruled out of the remainder of the ongoing three-match ODI series against Zimbabwe after failing to recover from a hamstring injury.
The wicketkeeper-batter had already missed the one-off Test and the opening ODI of the series due to the injury, and there had been hopes that he would return for the remaining two matches.
However, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) confirmed on Wednesday that he has not recovered from hamstring injury in time and will play no further part in the series.
Left-handed batter Parvez Hossain Emon, who was already part of the T20I squad, has been added to the ODI squad as Litton’s replacement. The wicketkeeper-batter has already left for Zimbabwe to join the team.
Litton underwent a fitness test on the eve of the second ODI, but the result was not satisfactory for the Bangladesh team management.
“Litton had already missed the first ODI and is still not match-fit. He underwent a fitness test today and the outcome was not satisfactory. With back-to-back ODIs coming up, we don’t think he will make sufficient progress to play any part in the series,” Bangladesh team physio Bayjedul Islam Khan said.
Bangladesh trail the three-match series 1-0 after suffering a 25-run defeat in the opening ODI. Mehidy Hasan Miraz’s side will fight to keep the series alive in the second ODI at Harare Sports Club on Thursday.
