North Zone sealed a strong win in their second match of the Bangladesh Cricket League one day competition. They beat South Zone by six wickets at Rajshahi Divisional Stadium. They finished the chase with plenty of overs left.
Chasing 145, North Zone lost three early wickets. The score was still below fifty at that stage. Then Litton Das took control. He stayed calm and batted through the innings. He remained unbeaten on 55 from 65 balls. Towhid Hridoy added 33 from 46 balls. Akbar Ali stayed not out on 19 from 22 balls. North Zone reached the target in 25.4 overs with six wickets in hand.
Mustafizur Rahman bowled well for South Zone. He took three wickets for 23 runs in five overs. But the total was too small to defend.
Earlier, South Zone were bowled out for 144 in 30.5 overs after batting first. Mohammad Mithun fought alone with the bat. He scored 55 from 70 balls. He had also scored a fifty in the last match.
The top order failed again. None of the first four batters reached double figures. Captain Nurul Hasan Sohan made 24 from 23 balls. Robiul Haque scored 29 from 22 balls. No other batter crossed ten.
For North Zone, SM Meherob took three wickets for just 10 runs. Nahid Rana also claimed three wickets. Mukidul Islam Mugdha and Shoriful Islam picked up two wickets each.
