Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Shafiqur Rahman has offered prayers for the country’s first female prime minister and BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia, following her death on Tuesday.
The 80-year-old leader died at 6am while undergoing treatment at the Evercare Hospital in Dhaka.
In a Facebook post, Shafiqur Rahman wrote, “Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji’un. May the Almighty Allah, the Lord of the worlds, have mercy on former Prime Minister of Bangladesh and BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia, forgive her, and accept her as a beloved guest of His Paradise.”
He further wrote, “May the Almighty Allah grant her family, loved ones, and colleagues sabre jameel (beautiful patience). Amen.”
