Italian President Sergio Mattarella has congratulated Bangladesh President Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on his election, expressing hope for stronger bilateral ties and enhanced cooperation with the European Union.
In a message dated 28 August, Mattarella said Italy values its longstanding friendship with Bangladesh and looks forward to further developing relations, aided by the contribution of the Bangladeshi community in Italy.
He voiced confidence that the two countries will expand dialogue and collaboration both bilaterally and in multilateral fora and wished Fakhrul success in carrying out his high office.
