Israel’s Diaspora Affairs Minister Amichai Chikli has said that a “new axis” comprising Türkiye, Qatar and Pakistan is emerging and poses concern for Israel, amid growing domestic backlash against Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu over a recently announced US-Iran agreement, reports Anadolu.
Speaking to Israel’s 103 FM radio, Chikli suggested that the three countries played a role in shaping the US-Iran deal, which he described as troubling.
“What we are witnessing is the rise of a new axis,” he said, adding that the broader concern is not only Iran’s economic rehabilitation but the geopolitical alignment taking shape around the agreement.
His remarks come as opposition figures in Israel intensify criticism of Netanyahu, accusing him of being sidelined from key negotiations between Washington and Tehran aimed at ending the conflict.
The US and Iran are reported to have reached a temporary truce earlier this month through Pakistani mediation, followed by a broader framework agreement announced on Monday, with formal signing expected in Switzerland on 19 June.
Several Israeli ministers have publicly voiced opposition to the deal. However, there has so far been no official response from Türkiye, Qatar or Pakistan to Chikli’s comments.
The three countries have consistently backed diplomatic efforts to resolve tensions between the US and Iran and have called for broader regional stability through negotiation rather than escalation.
