The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting on Saturday rejected reports claiming that the ban on broadcasting the Indian Premier League (IPL) in Bangladesh has been lifted.
“The decision taken by the previous government to suspend IPL broadcasts remains in force,” the ministry said in a press release.
It said a report published in The Daily Star headlined “Govt lifts bar on IPL telecast in Bangladesh”, along with similar reports by other media outlets, has come to its notice.
Clarifying the issue, the ministry said the earlier decision to stop IPL broadcasts is still effective.
It said opinions and advice have already been sought from the Ministry of Youth and Sports on the matter.
Further steps will be taken based on the recommendations of the Ministry of Youth and Sports, the release added.
The ministry also requested media outlets to publish its clarification to remove confusion created by the reports.
