India’s High Commissioner to Bangladesh Dinesh Trivedi has paid a courtesy call on Minister of Health and Family Welfare Sardar Md Sakhawat Husain at his office in the Secretariat.
After the meeting on Thursday, Trivedi expressed deep sorrow and condolences over the deaths of Bangladeshis in Kolkata hotel fire.
He assured that the Government of India would take all necessary measures, including compensation and required assistance, media reports say.
Minister Sakhawat said that the meeting was only a courtesy call with the Indian high commissioner. He also clarified that there was no discussion regarding Prime Minister Tarique Rahman’s visit to India.
