Australia and India end 2025 as the clear standard bearers of international men’s cricket, according to the latest ICC team rankings. Australia’s authority in Test cricket has been matched by India’s dominance across the two limited-overs formats, showcasing a year defined by sustained excellence at opposite ends of the game.

Australia reign supreme in Tests

Australia will close out 2025 as the world’s top-ranked Test side, a position earned through consistency rather than brief bursts of form. They finish the year with 124 rating points, comfortably clear of World Test Championship holders South Africa on 116.

England claim third place after a demanding and productive Test calendar, while India sit fourth following mixed results away from home. New Zealand complete the top five, with Sri Lanka, Pakistan, West Indies and Bangladesh trailing behind them in the standings.
