The Insurance Development and Regulatory Authority (IDRA) has signed two separate memoranda of understanding with the University of Dhaka and Brac University to strengthen academic collaboration and capacity building in the insurance sector.
The agreements were signed on Wednesday at IDRA headquarters, with the aim of promoting cooperation in research, training, knowledge sharing, internships and joint initiatives to develop skilled human resources for the industry.
Under the first agreement, IDRA entered into an MoU with Brac University, which was exchanged by IDRA Chairman M Aslam Alam and Brac University Treasurer Ariful Islam on behalf of their respective institutions.
On the same day, IDRA signed another MoU with the Department of Banking and Insurance at the University of Dhaka.
The agreement was exchanged by IDRA Chairman M Aslam Alam and University of Dhaka Department of Banking and Insurance Chairman Md Shahidul Islam Zahid.
The MoUs are expected to create opportunities for closer engagement between the regulator and academic institutions, supporting policy-relevant research and practical learning in insurance education.
Senior officials of IDRA and faculty members from both universities were present at the signing ceremonies.
