Police have arrested expelled Sramik Dal leader Md Ali Kayser Pintu in a case filed over a Tk10 lakh extortion demand and vandalism at the Inter‑District Truck Owners’ Association office in Mohammadpur, Dhaka.
He was later handed over to the Detective Police (DB) of police.
Mohammadpur Police Station Officer‑in‑Charge Md Abdul Halim confirmed the arrest.
According to the case statement, the incident occurred at the Inter‑District Truck Owners’ Association office in Sat Masjid Housing under the police station. On 31 August, Pintu and several others allegedly demanded extortion money from association members.
Plaintiff Belayet Hossain, a member of the association, alleged that Pintu and the accused had repeatedly demanded Tk10 lakh in extortion and issued threats.
