The International Crimes Tribunal (ICT)-1 has fixed May 10 for delivering its order on charge framing in a crimes against humanity case filed over killings and violence in Mohammadpur during the July Mass Uprising.
The case involves 28 accused, including former minister Jahangir Kabir Nanak and former Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) mayor Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh.
The date was set on Thursday by the tribunal led by Justice Golam Mortuza Majumdar.
Among the accused, four leaders of the banned Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) are currently in custody. They are Naimul Hasan Russel, Sajjad Hossain, Omar Faruk and Fazle Rabbi.
On 18 January, 2026, the tribunal formally showed the four arrested in the case and ordered their detention in jail. On the same day, arrest warrants were issued against the remaining 24 accused.
According to the prosecution, the accused allegedly instigated and encouraged attacks on students and civilians during the July mass uprising and were directly or indirectly present during the incidents.
Prosecutors said nine people, including Mahmudur Rahman Saikat and Farhan Faiyaz, were killed in the Mohammadpur area, while many others sustained injuries.
The prosecution earlier told the tribunal that it possesses substantial evidence, including video footage, supporting the allegations.
Other prominent accused in the case include former Dhaka Metropolitan Police Commissioner Habibur Rahman and former additional deputy inspectors general (DIGs) Biplob Kumar Sarker and Proloy Kumar Joarder.
