A mild to moderate heatwave is sweeping across parts of the country, the Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) said.
A Met office bulletin this morning said the heatwave is affecting Khulna division and the districts of Dhaka, Faridpur, Madaripur, Rajshahi, Pabna, Sirajganj, Feni, Laxmipur, Rangamati, Bandarban, and Patuakhali, and may continue.
The bulletin also forecast rain or thundershowers with temporary gusty winds and lightning at one or two places in Rangpur, Rajshahi, Mymensingh, and Sylhet divisions over the next 24 hours from 9am, with isolated hailstorms.
Elsewhere, weather may remain mainly dry with a partly cloudy sky.
Day temperatures may rise slightly, while night temperatures are expected to remain nearly unchanged, it added.
The highest temperature on Thursday was recorded at 38 degrees Celsius in Jashore, while today’s lowest was 23.3 degrees Celsius in Tetulia under Rangpur division.
The sun will set at 6:24pm today and rise at 5:29am tomorrow in Dhaka.
