The High Court on Sunday issued a rule asking the authorities to explain why female morgue attendants should not be appointed to conduct autopsies on the bodies of women.
A bench comprising Justice Fahmida Quader and Justice Md Ashif Hasan passed the order after hearing a public interest writ petition filed by Supreme Court lawyer Md Monir Uddin.
“The court directed the respondents to submit their replies within two weeks,” Monir Uddin, who also argued the petition, told reporters.
He filed the writ petition with the High Court on 13 July, seeking directives for the appointment of female morgue attendants.
