The interim government has pledged to ensure safe and hassle-free travel for holidaymakers ahead of Eid-ul-Azha, with measures already underway to address key concerns across all major transport routes.

Asif Mahmud Shojib Bhuyain, Adviser to the Ministry of Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives, reaffirmed the government’s commitment in a post on his verified Facebook page.

“To ensure smooth and uninterrupted Eid travel, the interim government has already convened an inter-ministerial meeting,” the post states.

Additionally, the adviser also shared that the Ministry of Railways will add extra train carriages to manage the anticipated spike in passenger volume during the festival rush.

He made similar remarks during a press conference where he stated that the government has initiated steps to tackle recurring complaints from travellers, including fare manipulation, extortion, and theft in addition to increased capacity.

Asif Mahmud noted that, much like during Eid-ul-Fitr, authorities are taking comprehensive action to prioritise the comfort and safety of those returning home to celebrate the holiday.
