The government has increased this year’s rawhide prices, with cowhide now priced at Tk60-65 per square foot in Dhaka and Tk55-60 outside the capital, marking a Tk5 increase from last year.
Commerce Adviser SK Bashir Uddin announced the new rates during a Sunday press briefing at the Secretariat, revealing that the minimum per-piece price for cowhide has been set at Tk1,350 in Dhaka and Tk1,150 elsewhere.
For goat hides, both ‘khashi’ and ‘bakri’ varieties now command Tk22-27 per square foot, a Tk2 increase, while salt-treated goat hide will sell for Tk20-22. The pricing structure ensures small cowhides measuring 20 square feet or from cows valued at Tk1 lakh will receive the minimum per-piece rate.
Last year’s prices saw cowhide at Tk60-65 in Dhaka and Tk50-55 elsewhere, with goat hides priced at Tk20-25 (khashi) and Tk18-20 (bakri). The previous minimum per-piece rates stood at Tk1,200 in Dhaka and Tk 1,000 in other areas.
