The price of gold in Bangladesh has reached an all-time high, with the Bangladesh Jewellers Association (BAJUS) announcing a Tk 3044 increase per bhori (11.664 grams) for 22-carat gold, bringing the price to Tk 178,832.

BAJUS revealed the revised rate in a statement on Wednesday night, confirming that the new prices would take effect from Thursday.

The announcement noted that the price hike follows an increase in the cost of acid gold (pure gold) in the local market. In light of the overall situation, the association set the new rates, which also saw adjustments for other gold categories.

As per the new pricing, 21-carat gold is now priced at Tk 170,703 per bhori, 18-carat at Tk 146,313, and traditional gold at Tk 121,166 per bhori.

The revised prices include a 5 percent VAT as mandated by the government, along with a minimum wage of 6 percent. However, making charges may vary based on
design and quality.

This marks the latest adjustment by BAJUS, following a previous price hike on September 1, which saw 22-carat gold increase by Tk 1470 to Tk 175,788 per bhori.
