The Bangladesh Jewellers Association (BAJUS) has reduced gold prices in the domestic market. Under the new decision, the price of 22‑carat gold per bhori (11.664 grams) has been cut by Tk2,216, setting the new rate at Tk221,966 including VAT.
BAJUS announced the change in a notice on Monday morning, saying the revised prices took effect at 10am. The association said the price of pure gold had fallen, prompting the adjustment.
According to the new rates, 22‑carat gold per bhori including VAT is Tk221,966; 21‑carat is Tk211,993; 18‑carat is Tk182,075; and traditional method gold is Tk148,774.
BAJUS said the prices will remain in force until further notice, with labour charges applicable depending on jewellery design. As VAT is included in the sales price of gold and silver ornaments, customers cannot be charged separately. For exchange or purchase, the previous rules remain in effect, excluding VAT, labour, and stone costs.
Earlier, on 10 July, BAJUS had raised the price of 22‑carat gold per bhori by Tk2,216 to Tk224,182, with 21‑carat at Tk214,092, 18‑carat at Tk183,882, and traditional method gold at Tk150,232.
So far this year, gold prices in Bangladesh have been adjusted 90 times — increased 44 times, reduced 45 times, and VAT adjusted once. In 2025, prices were adjusted 93 times, with 64 increases and 29 reductions.
