Mohammad Asad alias Arshad, now the terror of Mohammadpur-Adabor area, first entered the criminal underworld five to six years ago under the mentorship of Anwar “Kobzikata,” one of Mohammadpur’s most infamous criminals.

Rising swiftly through the ranks, Asad – who once worked as a construction laborer in his youth – now commands his own criminal gang.

The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested Asad along with an accomplice in a special operation. Additional DIG Mohammad Khalidul Haque Howlader of RAB-2 disclosed the details at a press conference held at RAB Media Center in Kawran Bazar on Monday afternoon.

According to Howlader, RAB-2 conducted a raid in Savar’s Vakurta area on Sunday and captured Asad, leader of “Ayesha Group,” and his associate Yusuf, with law enforcement seizing six samurai swords they had used in robberies and assaults.

Asad has long been involved in drug trafficking, extortion, land grabbing, and armed robberies across Mohammadpur and Adabor. Initially operating as a key associate of the notorious Kobzikata Anwar, Asad later took charge of Ayesha Group and has repeatedly attacked individuals with sharp weapons.

RAB officials revealed that on June 29, Asad and his gang brutally hacked a youth named Raju in Adabar over a drug-related dispute, leading to an attempted murder case the next day. Asad currently faces seven cases, including attempted murder, robbery, and theft.

“During the day, the gang would split into small groups to target pedestrians in isolated areas. At night, they raided homes or stopped moving vehicles at gunpoint, looting cash, mobile phones, laptops, and other valuables,” said DIG Howlader.
