French DJ and electropop musician Kavinsky, best known for his hit track Nightcall, has been found dead at his home in Paris. He was 50.
According to the BBC, French media outlets BFM TV and Le Figaro reported on Wednesday that the musician, whose real name was Vincent Belorgey, was found dead at his residence in the French capital.
The Paris prosecutor’s office has opened an investigation into the cause of death. In a statement, prosecutors said first responders found “no suspicious elements” at the scene.
Kavinsky rose to international prominence with Nightcall, which served as the signature track of the 2011 film Drive and became one of the defining electronic songs of the decade.
He also performed alongside Belgian singer Angèle during the closing ceremony of the 2024 Olympic Games, introducing his music to a global audience.
Widely recognised for his distinctive synthwave sound and cinematic style, Kavinsky became one of France’s most influential electronic artists, with Nightcall remaining his best-known work.
