The fourth Twenty20 international between New Zealand and the West Indies was abandoned due to rain on Monday after fewer than seven overs were possible at Nelson’s Saxton Oval.
New Zealand remain 2-1 up in the five-match series, with the final game scheduled to take place in Dunedin on Thursday.
The West Indies had reached 38 for 1 after 6.3 overs when a second spell of rain ended any prospect of further play. Alick Athanaze was the only batter dismissed, making 21 before mistiming an attempted lofted shot off James Neesham to be caught by Daryl Mitchell running back from mid-on.
Opener Amir Jangoo was unbeaten on 12, while captain Shai Hope was not out on three when play was halted for the final time.
New Zealand had lost the opening match of the series at Eden Park by seven runs but levelled the contest with a narrow three-run victory in the second match at the same venue. They then edged ahead with a nine-run win in Nelson on Sunday, setting up Thursday’s decider in Dunedin.
