Awami League leader and former civil aviation minister Engineer Mosharraf Hossain has been granted bail in a case at Paltan Police Station, following earlier bail grants in other cases.
On Thursday, AKAM Masum, the jailer of Dhaka Central Jail (Keraniganj), confirmed his release on bail.
He stated that Mosharraf Hossain was freed at 5:35pm while undergoing treatment at the former PG Hospital, now Bangladesh Medical University Hospital. All relevant bail documents were properly verified before his release. The jail security detail guarding him was withdrawn at that time.
He was previously arrested on October 27 last year from the Vatara area under Dhaka Metropolitan Police.
On August 5 this year, he was admitted to Bangladesh Medical University Hospital from the jail hospital due to severe age-related illness. From there, he was granted bail and released.
Mosharraf Hossain, a seven-time elected member of parliament, represented the Chattogram-1 constituency for a long period. He served successfully as Minister of Civil Aviation and Tourism as well as Minister of Housing and Public Works.
His son Mahbub Rahman Ruhel was elected MP from the same constituency in the 2024 national election.
