A farmer named Md Rafiqul Islam (50) was killed in a clash stemming from a longstanding land dispute, with three others sustaining injuries.
The incident occurred on Saturday afternoon in West Balikha village of Balikha union under Tarakanda upazila of Mymensingh. The deceased – Rafiqul Islam – was the son of late Hatem Ali from West Balikha village.
Tarakanda Police Station’s Officer-in-Charge (Acting) Tipu Sultan confirmed the incident.
Police reported that the clash erupted between two rival groups – one led by Shujat Dewan and the other by Khalil – who had been embroiled in a prolonged land dispute. Multiple cases regarding the conflict were already pending.
During the violent confrontation between the two factions, Rafiqul Islam was killed. The three injured individuals have been hospitalised for treatment.
