A 70-year-old man was killed after being hit by a motorcycle in Fatikchhari upazila of Chattogram on Saturday.
The accident occurred at Jolavita area of Fatikchhari municipality on the Gahira–Heyako road around noon.
The deceased was identified as Badiul Alam, son of the late Ahmadur Rahman and a resident of Ward No 4 of Jolavita area under the municipality.
Witnesses said Badiul Alam was returning home on foot after offering Zuhr prayers at a nearby mosque.
At that time, a speeding motorcycle travelling from Lelang towards Bibirhat struck him, throwing him onto the road and leaving him seriously injured.
Local residents rescued him and took him to Nazirhat Upazila Health Complex.
Nazirhat Upazila Health Complex Medical Officer Tamanna Tabassum Jessy said the elderly man was brought to the hospital after a road accident but had already died before arrival.
