The Election Commission will hold a views-exchange and pre-election preparation meeting on 20 October to ensure the 13th parliamentary election is conducted in a free, participatory, and fair manner.
“The EC has invited all law enforcement agencies to attend a meeting at the EC Secretariat on 20 October,” said EC Senior Secretary Akhtar Ahmed on Tuesday.
The meeting will take place at Nirbachan Bhaban at 10:30am on 20 October, with top officials from the armed forces Army, Navy, and Air Force as well as the police, BGB, Rab, Coast Guard, Ansar, and intelligence agencies expected to attend.
According to an EC letter sent to the heads of law enforcement and intelligence agencies, the meeting aims to facilitate the smooth conduct of the upcoming parliamentary elections.
Earlier, the Election Commission initiated a series of electoral dialogues with various stakeholders, including civil society representatives on 28 September, as part of preparations for the general election scheduled for early February 2026. On the same day, the EC also held discussions with teacher representatives.
On 6 October, the Commission engaged in two separate dialogues with senior journalists from various media outlets. Journalists during the discussions urged the EC to take firm action and demonstrate a strong commitment to ensure a level playing field, effectively combat the misuse of AI and social media, and conduct the election fairly and peacefully.
The EC plans to meet with other stakeholders, including political parties, ahead of the national election.
