Bus services between Dinajpur and Dhaka, as well as neighbouring districts, have remained suspended since Thursday morning.
All types of vehicles on internal routes also remain suspended.
The disruption followed the arrest of transport labour leader Sheikh Badsha on the night of 26 August, which triggered clashes at Kotwali police station and road blockades that paralysed traffic and public life.
Eyewitnesses said transport workers and a group of miscreants clashed inside the police station yard in the presence of Kotwali police, trading blows and throwing brickbats. At least two to three people sustained injuries.
Protesting the arrest and the clash, transport workers began a blockade from midnight, placing buses and trucks across key entry points, including Dinajpur Central Bus Terminal and Doshmile intersection.
The blockade has caused severe suffering for commuters, with students and office‑goers struggling to reach their destinations and many forced to walk.
Additional police forces have been deployed to restore order and maintain transport communication.
