The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has implemented extensive security measures to maintain law and order and ensure the safety of city residents on the holy Eid-e-Miladunnabi.
According to the DMP, the entire capital has been brought under a strict security blanket to counter any untoward incident or threat to public safety. In line with these measures, pickets and checkposts have been set up across different areas, and search operations have been intensified at all entry points of the metropolitan city.
The police department said that personnel from the Detective Branch (DB) and the Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) unit will be active in the field to maintain intelligence surveillance and conduct security operations. Specialised units, including SWAT, the Bomb Disposal Unit, and the K-9 unit, will conduct sweeping operations at important locations and public gathering spots.
Additionally, key installations have been brought under a special security plan, with round-the-clock surveillance maintained through CCTV cameras and drones. Plainclothes officers from the City Special Branch (City SB) and the Internal Affairs Division (IAD) will continue their intelligence-gathering and surveillance operations.
To bolster overall security, additional teams from the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) and the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) will also be deployed. Adequate Quick Response Teams (QRT) have been prepared and stationed to address any emergency swiftly.
Beyond regular security duties, additional officers and forces will be stationed at venues hosting discussion meetings, Milad Mahfils, and rallies across the capital. Mobile teams from respective police stations will secure the front and rear of these programmes.
Senior DMP officials will be present on the ground to personally supervise the security arrangements within their respective jurisdictions, police sources said.
