The Dhaka International Trade Fair (DITF) will now be officially called the Dhaka Trade Fair (DTF), following a decision made at the 148th Board Meeting of the Export Promotion Bureau (EPB) on August 18, 2025.
The name change comes in response to concerns about the quality and authenticity of foreign products displayed at the event, as many foreign companies now participate through local agents rather than direct representation.
The meeting, chaired by Commerce Adviser SK Bashir Uddin, discussed strategies to improve Bangladesh’s international trade presence and enhance the global reputation of its trade exhibitions.
The rebranding of the fair aims to address these issues and strengthen the event’s international appeal.
Alongside the name change, EPB approved the 2025-2026 trade fair calendar and partially approved the 2026-2027 calendar for international participation.
Sk Bashir Uddin emphasized the importance of a strategic, data-driven approach to ensure effective participation that would expand the market for Bangladesh’s products and foster business growth.
The meeting also saw the approval of the Sourcing Bangladesh 2025 fair, scheduled for November 2025. This initiative is aligned with the government’s strategy to diversify markets and increase the global recognition of Bangladesh’s export industries.
Commerce Secretary Mahbubur Rahman highlighted the need to promote these fairs through Bangladesh’s diplomatic channels abroad to improve foreign participation and ensure the quality of the products showcased.
The changes signal the government’s ongoing efforts to elevate Bangladesh’s presence in the global trade arena.
