Dev and Subhashree Ganguly were once one of Tollywood’s most talked-about couples. Their on-screen chemistry and real-life relationship had generated immense interest among audiences.
But eventually, the two went their separate ways. Nearly a decade has passed since then, and both have moved on, building new relationships and identities in their personal and professional lives.
Now, they are set to reunite on screen as a pair after 10 years with Desu 7. Their comeback has once again brought their past relationship into the spotlight.
Dev has recently opened up about their relationship and their present equation, revealing that communication between them did not end abruptly.
In fact, he said they remained in touch over the phone until the day before Subhashree’s marriage to filmmaker Raj Chakraborty.
The two later made a mutual decision that they believed would help them move forward in their respective lives.
They agreed to unfollow and block each other on social media.
“Communication with Subhashree did not stop suddenly. We spoke on the phone until the day before her marriage to Raj. Then we blocked each other. We both wanted to leave the past behind and move forward in our lives in a positive way,” Dev said.
“So, with mutual consent, we unfollowed and blocked each other on social media.”
According to Dev, there was no bitterness or conflict behind the decision.
Instead, both wanted to put the emotions of their past relationship behind them and focus on their new lives.
Maintaining some distance from the past seemed like the right choice at the time, particularly out of respect for the new relationships they had entered.
Their circumstances are very different today. Subhashree is married to Raj Chakraborty, while Dev is in a relationship with actress Rukmini Maitra.
Both have moved into new chapters of their lives, which has allowed them to work together again after nearly a decade.
Dev also believes Raj Chakraborty and Rukmini Maitra played an important role in making their on-screen reunion possible.
According to him, the comeback would not have happened without the trust and maturity of the two people now beside them.
Their confidence and mature outlook helped the former couple return to the same frame professionally, Dev suggested.
For Dev and Subhashree, Desu 7 is therefore more than just another film. It marks a new chapter following a relationship, separation and years of distance.
Once the subject of intense discussion across Tollywood for their romance, the two are now returning as an on-screen pair after moving on with separate lives.
Apart from starring in the film, Dev has also produced and directed Desu 7. Anirban Bhattacharya is also part of the cast.
The film is scheduled to hit cinemas on 16 October.
