Dengue: One dead, 416 hospitalised in 24hrs

At least one dengue patient died and 416 were hospitalised across the country in the 24 hours till Wednesday morning, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

It said the total number of deaths now stands at 44 while the total number of cases this year rose to 11,098.

Of the new patients, 165 were hospitalized in Barishal division, 23 in Chattogram division, 55 in Dhaka division excluding the capital, 65 in Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) and 29 in Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) areas, 18 in Khulna division, 10 in Mymensingh division and 51 in Rajshahi division.

Currently, 1,313 dengue patients are undergoing treatment at different hospitals, 967 of whom are from outside Dhaka.

The DGHS, however, said 332 patients were discharged from different hospitals across the country after their recovery.

The dengue last year claimed 575 lives and infected 1, 01,214 people in the country.
