Dengue: Highest single-day death toll of 2025

Four people have died from dengue fever in a single day, marking the highest death toll in a single day this year.

This brings the total fatalities from the mosquito-borne disease to 69 this year, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

The recent fatalities occurred in the Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) and Chattogram Division.

In addition, 319 new dengue patients were admitted to hospitals in the last 24 hours till Wednesday morning, raising the total number of cases to 18,345 this year.

Of the new cases, 29 were reported in Dhaka North City Corporation and 61 in Dhaka South City Corporation.

Outside the capital, Barishal Division reported 89 new cases, Chattogram Division followed with 38, and Rajshahi recorded 30 cases.

Mymensingh Division registered nine new cases, while Rangpur Division had four. Additionally, Dhaka Division reported 59 new infections.

Currently, 1316 patients are undergoing treatment in hospitals across the country.

Last year, dengue claimed the lives of 575 people.

Meanwhile, health authorities continue to monitor the situation closely and urge citizens to take preventive measures to curb the spread of the disease.
