The newly elected committee of the Cricketers’ Welfare Association of Bangladesh (CWAB) held its first meeting on Saturday, marking the beginning of its new term following September’s election.
CWAB President Mohammad Mithun chaired the meeting, which was attended by Senior Vice-President Shahriar Hossain Bidyut and Vice-President Nurul Hasan Sohan.
Executive members Najmul Hossain Shanto, Shamsur Rahman Shuvo, Mehidy Hasan Miraz, Rumana Ahmed, Imrul Kayes, Irfan Sukkur and Akbar Ali were also present.
During the session, President Mithun reaffirmed the committee’s commitment to strengthening player welfare and raising funds to support cricketers across Bangladesh.
“CWAB must earn the trust of all male and female cricketers in the country. The welfare of our players remains our top priority. We will make time from our busy schedules to assist cricketers and ensure CWAB operates effectively,” said Mithun.
Members were assigned specific responsibilities across different sub-committees and expressed enthusiasm about their new roles in supporting the organisation’s goals.
Sub-committee responsibilities:
- Administration: Shamsur Rahman Shuvo
- Finance: Irfan Sukkur
- Current men’s players: Akbar Ali and Najmul Hossain Shanto
- Current women’s players: Rumana Ahmed
- Fund mobilisation: Mehidy Hasan Miraz and Imrul Kayes
- Media and communications: Nurul Hasan Sohan
- Events: Mohammad Mithun and Mominul Haque
CWAB also appointed corporate leader Shehzad Munim and journalist Mohammad Isam as advisers to the committee.
