A court in Dhaka has ordered the seizure of properties and vehicles belonging to former home minister Asaduzzaman Khan, following a petition filed by Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).
Dhaka Special Judge Court-3 Judge Muhammad Kamrul Islam Khan issued the order on Tuesday, covering assets valued at Tk3.91 crore and two vehicles worth Tk1.61 crore.
According to the ACC, the properties include 10 kathas of land in Narayanganj and a total of 167.23 decimals of land in Dohar and Ashulia.
The petition alleges that Asaduzzaman Khan illegally acquired assets worth Tk16.41 crore inconsistent with his declared sources of income, and engaged in suspicious financial transactions totaling Tk 55.92 crore across eight bank accounts.
During the investigation, authorities found that the former minister was attempting to sell, transfer, or otherwise dispose of the alleged assets, which could prevent their confiscation in favour of the state.
The court noted that failure to attach the properties could cause irreparable loss to public funds.
