The court has ordered the interrogation of Desh Television Limited’s Managing Director and Hasan Telecom Limited’s Chairman, Arif Hasan (50), at the jail gate.
On Thursday, Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Sabir Foyez issued this order in response to an application filed by ACC Assistant Director Md Rakibul Hayat.
The application stated that Arif Hasan and other accused, in collusion with each other, used the non-existent organisation “Prakriti Association” to show the taking and distribution of a Tk80 crore loan, which they allegedly embezzled.
Previously, it was alleged that the organisation suffered a loss of Tk21.24 crore in interest. A case is ongoing against the accused under the Penal Code, Section 5(2) of the Anti-Corruption Act, and Section 4(2) of the Money Laundering Prevention Act.
Arif Hasan is currently in jail. He had been arrested from Dhaka’s Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in November of last year over allegations accusing him of attempted murder during the student-led mass uprising.
