At least 14 people have been injured in separate incidents of clashes over control of khas land and a temple in Chattogram city.
In Lake Valley residential area under Khulshi Police Station, a long‑standing dispute over khas land escalated when groups led by Wakil Hossain alias Boga and Rajib clashed with local weapons around 11pm on Friday.
At least 8–10 people were injured, several hospitalised, sources said.
However, police intervened with baton charge to disperse the groups.
Additional forces have since been deployed, and CCTV footage is being reviewed to identify those involved, said Amirul Islam, deputy commissioner (north zone) of Chattogram Metropolitan Police.
Meanwhile, in Paikpara, Nandan Kanan, a clash broke out around 4am Saturday allegedly between some ISKCON followers and local Hindus over control of Loknath temple and adjoining land.
Witnesses said the group attempted to enter the temple area around 3am, sparking arguments that turned violent.
Four people were injured, one detained, and temple property including a room and electrical equipment was reportedly vandalised.
Hossain Kabir Bhuiyan, deputy commissioner of police (south zone), confirmed the incident, saying police brought the situation under control.
However, ISKCON has not issued an official statement regarding the matter.
Representatives of the Hindu community insisted the temple has long been managed locally and warned they would not accept outside control.
The environment in both areas remains tense, with heavy police patrols to prevent further unrest.
A press conference by local Hindus protesting the alleged attack is scheduled to be held later in the day.
Police said the incident is under investigation, taking statements from both sides. Legal measures will be taken after monitoring the situation, they added.
