Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus has pledged to announce the July Charter through consensus with political parties. He made this commitment during his opening speech at the second round of dialogues between the National Consensus Commission and political parties at the Foreign Service Academy in Dhaka on Monday afternoon.
“We have all gathered here today for the welfare of the nation,” stated the Chief Adviser, who chairs the Consensus Commission. “I hope we can reach agreement with all political parties to prepare an excellent July Charter. The government believes reducing differences among parties will make this declaration possible.”
Commission Vice-Chair Professor Ali Riaz noted: “The Commission’s term ends in August 2025, and we’re working tirelessly to announce the July Charter before then. We must succeed in this sacred responsibility.”
The second phase of national consensus talks began Monday under Yunus’s leadership, attended by political party representatives and stakeholders in the reform process. The Commission was established to review and finalise recommendations on five key reform areas: constitutional matters, judicial system, electoral process, public administration, and anti-corruption commission.
The first phase of dialogues, held from February 15 to May 19, involved consultations with 33 political parties.
