The Chattogram Royals have placed former Bangladesh batter Tushar Imran at the centre of their coaching structure for the 2026 Bangladesh Premier League, a move confirmed as the franchise works to steady the narrative around its preparations.
The BPL is set to feature six teams, but in the build up to the tournament the Royals have found themselves addressing speculation about their future. That conversation intensified when Habibul Bashar stepped down from his mentor and team manager role to join the BPL technical committee.
Amid the noise, the franchise issued a late night statement rejecting suggestions that it might withdraw. “Chattogram Royals has not made any such announcement to the BCB or any media outlet,” the release said, adding that integrity remained its “core value”.
The club’s clearest statement of intent, however, came with the confirmation of Tushar Imran as batting coach and mentor. One of the most prolific domestic run scorers in Bangladesh, Tushar brings what the franchise views as a steadying influence and a depth of technical expertise that aligns with the Royals’ ambition to build a competitive and development focused squad.
Management believe his presence will be central to the team’s identity. Officials said preparations for the tournament are being carried out “with dedication and professionalism”, and view Tushar’s appointment as a key component of that process.
Local coach Mominul Haque has been named head coach, but it is Tushar’s elevation that signals the Royals’ confidence in experience and continuity at a moment when off field speculation had briefly overshadowed their build up.
