Bangladesh are set to complete their third training session on Thursday evening at the Dhaka National Stadium as preparations gathered pace for the crucial AFC Asian Cup Qualifier against Hong Kong, China. Head coach Javier Cabrera requested the session be held behind closed doors, focusing on fine-tuning tactics and building a clear game plan.
Team manager Amer Khan reported encouraging signs from the camp. “The team looks very confident and they want to give their all. The dressing room environment is very positive,” he said during the second session.
The build-up has not been without hurdles. A heavy downpour cut short the opening day’s training earlier in the week, but the second session on Wednesday ran smoothly and restored momentum. Thursday’s closed-door practice added another layer of intensity, with players showing determination to rise to the occasion.
Midfielder Fahamedul has been heavily involved in training and is adapting well to the squad. The team’s preparations will be further strengthened when foreign-based stars Hamza Choudhury and Shamit Shome join on 6 and 7 October. Their arrival is expected to provide both quality and experience ahead of the first battle in Dhaka on 9 October and the return fixture in Hong Kong on 14 October.
Bangladesh began their qualifying campaign with a 0-0 draw against India and a narrow 2-1 loss to Singapore. With four matches still to play, Cabrera’s men know their performances in the coming weeks will be crucial to keeping their Asian Cup ambitions alive.
