Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus on Monday had a review meeting on the country’s law-and-order situation and election preparations by law enforcement agencies.

The meeting was held at the state guest house Jamuna with Prof Yunus in the chair, said Chief Adviser’s Deputy Press Secretary Abul Kalam Azad Majumder.

Officials familiar with the discussion said Yunus sought updates on recent incidents of political violence, security risks in sensitive districts, and the status of electoral roll finalisation and polling centre preparations.

Top representatives from the Home Ministry, Public Administration Ministry, Election Commission Secretariat, and various law enforcement agencies including the police and intelligence units attended the meeting.

“We are committed to ensuring a credible and peaceful election. All institutions must coordinate and act responsibly,” Yunus reportedly told the officials, according to a senior aide present.

The Chief Adviser also instructed authorities to closely monitor political rallies and prevent any provocation that may disrupt public order, while maintaining neutrality in enforcement actions.

The meeting also discussed logistical readiness for the upcoming polls, including training of presiding officers, ballot distribution protocols, and contingency planning in flood-prone and remote areas.

The Election Commission is expected to announce the final electoral roadmap within the first week of August.
