The Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA) will pay tribute to renowned novelist, storyteller and filmmaker Humayun Ahmed through a day-long programme featuring a seminar, film screenings and musical performances at the National Theatre Hall in Dhaka on June 5.
The event will mark the concluding chapter of the BSA’s ongoing series aimed at preserving the country’s cultural heritage and recognising distinguished cultural figures. The initiative is being organised with the support of the Ministry of Cultural Affairs.
The tribute programme will begin at 4 pm with a screening of’ Srabon Megher Din’, one of Humayun Ahmed’s acclaimed films. A seminar titled ‘Filmmaker Humayun Ahmed: Craftsmanship and Artistic Vision’ will follow at 6:30 pm.
Film researcher and critic Dr Shahadat Ruman will present the keynote paper, while filmmaker and academic Prof Dr Motin Rahman will attend as the principal discussant.
Other speakers at the seminar include filmmaker Nuhash Humayun, son of the late writer, and Md Mizanur Rahman, Joint Secretary of the Ministry of Cultural Affairs.
The session will be chaired by Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy Director General and poet Sheikh Rezauddin Ahmed, widely known as Rezauddin Stalin.
As part of the programme, songs written by Humayun Ahmed will also be performed, highlighting another dimension of his creative contribution.
The event will conclude with an 8 pm screening of ‘Ghetuputra Komola’, the National Film Award-winning feature film directed by Humayun Ahmed.
Organisers said the programme is open to all and will provide admirers with an opportunity to revisit the life, work and artistic legacy of one of Bangladesh’s most influential literary and cultural figures.
