Eighteen-year-old Chelsea winger Estevão starred with a brace as Brazil cruised to a commanding 5-0 victory over South Korea in an international friendly at the Seoul World Cup Stadium on Friday.
South Korea captain Son Heung-min marked a milestone 137th appearance, the most by any male player for the country but it proved a forgettable night for the hosts as Carlo Ancelotti’s Brazil dominated from start to finish.
Brazil took the lead in the 13th minute when Estevão slotted home from close range after a precise through ball from Newcastle United midfielder Bruno Guimarães. The youngster’s strike, his second in eight appearances for the national team, reinforced his growing reputation as one of world football’s brightest prospects ahead of next year’s World Cup in North America.
The visitors doubled their advantage just before half-time, with Real Madrid’s Rodrygo finishing clinically after dancing past South Korean defenders.
Ancelotti fielded a strong attacking lineup, with Manchester United’s Matheus Cunha leading the line and the lively trio of Estevão, Rodrygo, and Vinícius Júnior operating just behind him.
The same trio ran riot after the interval. Estevão and Rodrygo each found the net again, before Vinícius added a fifth with 13 minutes remaining to seal a dominant win for Brazil.
Brazil will next travel to face Japan on Tuesday, while South Korea are set to host Paraguay.
