Bangladesh Cricket Board has invited clubs from the Dhaka Premier Division and the first, second and third divisions to a tea meeting after the start of the First Division league, scheduled for 25 November, was postponed due to an unresolved boycott from 43 clubs alleging irregularities in the BCB election.
The boycott, announced earlier this month, remains in place and has cast uncertainty over when the first division season will begin. It is still unclear whether officials from the boycotting clubs will attend a proposed meeting with the board on 29 November. A senior sports organiser told Dhaka Post that the clubs will hold internal discussions tomorrow before deciding on their next step.
In its invitation letter, BCB said the gathering aimed to promote constructive dialogue, strengthen cooperation and discuss broader issues concerning the development of cricket in Bangladesh and the welfare of players. The board positioned the meeting as part of its ongoing effort to maintain communication with Dhaka’s clubs.
BCB added that the tea session would provide an opportunity to address unresolved matters, exchange views and plan future activities in a more coordinated and productive manner.
With no resolution yet to the dispute and the league’s start date already missed, the board now faces a delicate period of negotiation to avoid further disruption to domestic cricket.
