A fire broke out at the Banani residence of renowned singer and composer Bappa Mazumder and his family, who managed to narrowly escape the fire unharmed.
According to the singer, the fire started on the ground floor of the building due to an electrical fault and rapidly spread upwards.
Sharing his ordeal on Facebook, he wrote, “Just got saved from a fire in our building on 2nd floor (we live on the 3rd floor) due to electrical wire issues. But we all are safe. Thanks to the Fire Brigade Service for their prompt response. Otherwise it could have been something very different. And… well… can’t even think about it.”
Speaking to reporters, Bappa narrated the ordeal: “I received an intercom alert about the fire. I tried to evacuate my family, but the smoke was so thick we couldn’t see anything.”
“Suddenly, I felt the fire’s heat and panicked,” he continued. “We waited on the balcony for some time, but then I contacted lyricist Shahan Kabondho, who was nearby and helped us to get out safely.”
Bappa and his wife, actress Tania Hossain, have two daughters.
Authorities confirmed no casualties and are investigating the fire’s cause and the extent of the damage.
