The Netherlands’ scheduled T20I tour of Bangladesh has been delayed, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) confirmed through internal sources. Initially set to begin with the Dutch team’s arrival on 14 August, the visitors will now touch down in Dhaka on 26 August.
This change has naturally affected the match schedule as well. According to a draft itinerary prepared earlier, the three-match T20I series was to be held between 19 and 25 August. However, a BCB official has now indicated that the revised fixtures will see the games played on 30 August, 2 September, and 4 September at the Sylhet International Stadium.
The delay, it is understood, was prompted by a request from the Royal Dutch Cricket Association.
Following the cancellation of India’s proposed tour of Bangladesh, the BCB found itself with a month-and-a-half gap in its calendar ahead of the Asia Cup. With no major teams available during that window, Bangladesh turned to the Netherlands as a viable option to ensure match practice for the national side.
The proposal was made with the Bangladesh team’s preparation in mind, particularly for captain Liton Das and his side to be better prepared for the Asia Cup, to be held in the UAE.
Ahead of the Netherlands series, Bangladesh’s national fitness camp is scheduled to begin on 6 August at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur. A conditioning camp will follow in the lead-up to the T20Is.
